BLESSED MOTHER TERESA
A SAINT OF GUTTERS, ANGEL OF THE POOR, A LIVING SAINT,A PERSON WHO WORKED TIRELESSLY FOR THE PEOPLE WHOM SHE DID NOT EVEN KNOW.SHE IS ONE OF THE GREATEST PERSON TO HAVE LIVED ON THIS EARTH.I AM REALLY PROUD TO HAVE LIVED DURING HER TIME.
SHE IS INDEED A PERSON WHOM ALL PEOPLE LOOK UPON AS A SYMBOL OF LOVE AND FAITH.
A COUNTRY WHERE UNTOUCHABILITY PREVAILED, SHE CAME IN TO SERVE THE POOR, THE LEPERS AND BROKE ALL THE BARRIERS OF SOCIAL INJUSTICE.
THE LETTERS, WRITTEN BY MOTHER TERESA IN THE 1950'S AND 1960'S TO HER CHURCH SPIRITUAL GUIDES, ALSO REVEAL THE TROUBLING AND, AT TIMES, PAINFUL CONNECTION SHE SOMETIMES HAD WITH GOD. "I AM TOLD GOD LIVES IN ME -- AND YET THE REALITY OF DARKNESS AND COLDNESS AND EMPTINESS IS SO GREAT THAT NOTHING TOUCHES MY SOUL," SHE WROTE IN ONE OF THE LETTERS.SURELY EVERYONE IS FILLED WITH THAT LONELINESS,EVEN FOR SUCH A WOMEN OF GREAT VIRTUES,WHICH PROVES ALL ARE HUMANS AND COME UNDER GOD.
IN THE MIDST OF THIS WORLD'S POVERTY AND PAIN, MOTHER TERESA OF CALCUTTA HAS SHONE THE WARM LIGHT OF GOD'S LOVE AND COMPASSION ON US ALL. THIS IS WHAT THE CHURCH TOLD ITS FAITHFUL IN RAISING HER TO THE RANK OF BLESSED — THAT IT WAS HIS LIGHT WE BEHELD IN HER. "YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD," JESUS TOLD HIS DISCIPLES, "COME, BE MY LIGHT," JESUS SIMILARLY URGED MOTHER TERESA AT THE OUTSET OF HER MISSION. "BRING ME INTO THE DARK HOLES OF THE POOR. COME, CARRY ME, I CANNOT GO ALONE."
